Word for the Week

April 13, 2026

Dear Friend,

I pray you are doing well on your journey with speaking God’s Word. Don’t get discouraged! It takes time to train yourself to speak God’s Word over a situation. Sometimes, it’s harder still to hold your tongue!  I know there have been times when I wanted to unleash my words in anger. We really do carry a loaded gun beneath our noses!  We can shoot off words that destroy rather than heal.

This week I want to encourage you to set a guard on your tongue. Don’t speak the first thing that comes to your mind.

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;
Keep watch over the door of my lips
.

Psalm 141:3 (NKJV)

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.

James 1:26 (ESV)

When I lived in North Carolina, I bought a license plate that read, “Proverbs 18:21.”  That scripture says that the power of death and life are in your tongue, and I wanted to keep that scripture close to me everywhere I traveled.

We all fall sometimes and speak words that we shouldn’t.  Be encouraged.  Get up and keep walking by faith, keep speaking the Word of God.  Set a guard over your mouth.

Victory is yours!
