Dear Friend,

Did you know that God created the world by speaking? If a seamstress creates a new dress, she takes fabric and thread and works with her hands. If a mechanic builds a new motor, he takes many working parts and puts them together with his hands. Yet when God created the world, He used His words, not His hands, to create.

  And God said, “Let there by light,” and there was light.
  And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered into one place, and let dry ground appear.”  And it was so.
  And God said, “Let the land produce vegetation . . . and it was so.”
  Genesis 1:3,9,11 NIV)

In Genesis chapter one, you can highlight, “And God said,” NINE times! My friend, we are made in the image of God and our words carry power, too. As He is, so are we. What He did, we can do also. Our words can create and build up or tear down and destroy. 

  Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
  1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)

This week, determine in your heart to speak words that build up your life and build up the lives of those around you, too!
