Dear friend,
Who owns your bank account? Think about that. God called us to be a steward over the money He supplies. Our work is a gift from God. Our money, house, car, and finances all belong to Him. God’s finances begin when we seek Him first, before anything else.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6:33 (NLT)
Some people won’t give God any money, but they will go out and buy a lottery ticket. As children of God, we have the Holy Spirit to lead us and teach us regarding our work and our finances. It all belongs to God anyway. I want to give you a few tips about spending money:
- Do you have peace about what you’re about to do?
- If you feel frantic, don’t do it.
- If you feel panicky inside, don’t do it.
- If you are wavering back and forth on the decision, wait.
Let the Holy Spirit be your umpire when it comes to spending money. We can’t hear the Holy Spirit if we are frantic or upset. We are not of this world, but sometimes the things of this world pull on us and try to grab our attention. Look at what Jesus said:
“They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”
John 17:16 (NKJV)
The way you give money or spend money may look radical to someone who is not born again. Just remember, you and I are not of this world! We belong to God and all we have belongs to Him!
Glory to God!
