Dear friend,
As we enter the holiday season, I want to encourage you to guard your heart and your wallet. Seek God and ask Him for wisdom in the spending of your money. I don’t teach on finances very much, mostly because we have all endured “get rich quick” schemes on Christian programming. Some of God’s ministers try to sell things that are God’s, such as:
Healings
Miracles
Financial breakthrough
I fell into that trap myself shortly after I was born again. I was desperate for financial breakthrough. I watched a minister on television. He told people watching his program to make a donation equal to their mortgage payment. He said God would bless each giver with financial breakthrough. Well, I sent in a full mortgage payment of $1250 and, because I wanted my sister to be blessed, I sent in a full mortgage payment for her, too! I mean, how dumb can you be and still breathe?
That minister was enticing Christians to bribe God! You can’t wave a magic wand and your debt disappears. Remember, God does not charge you for His gifts!
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts,
Come to the waters;
And you who have no money,
Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.”
Isaiah 55:1 (NKJV)
This holiday season, watch out for wolves in sheep’s clothing. Ask God where to give and believe in Him to meet your every need. Come and buy from Him, without money and without price.
Glory to God!
