Dear friend,
Have you ever been in a position that you wanted to escape from? There is a story in the Bible about how David escaped from King Saul. He was jealous of David’s successes as a warrior. After the women in the city sang praise songs about David, King Saul literally tried to pin David to the wall with his spear! No wonder young David wanted to run away.

David escaped and ran away to Samuel at Ramah. He told Samuel everything that Saul had done to him. Then David and Samuel went to the camps where the prophets stayed. David stayed there.
1 Samuel 19:18 (ERV)

The word delivered means to escape. Perhaps no one has tried to pin you to the wall with a spear lately, but if you’ve been the target of jealousy, you know how much it can sting.

Wrath is cruel and anger a torrent,
But who is able to stand before jealousy?
Proverbs 27:4 (NKJV)

Satan has a little bit of power, but he has no authority. As a believer in Christ, you have both power and authority. The power of Satan is crushed. God may deliver you and do a miracle all at once or there may be a process where every little thing that happens is another step toward God. You may be wondering how things turned out for David?

The power of the Philistines was crushed, so they didn’t come into Israel’s territory again. The Lord restrained the Philistines as long as Samuel lived.
1 Samuel 7:13 (GWT)

My friend, this week I pray that you escape any spears of jealousy aimed at you right now. May God show you a trusted brother or sister in Christ who will be like Samuel was to David and grant you time to fellowship there in the Lord.

We’ve been delivered!
