Dear Friend,

One of the signs that we are in the last days is that God’s gift of prophecy will be poured out in abundance.

And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.
Joel 2:28 (NKJV)

The gift of prophecy is based on speaking words that God gives a person. If someone is prophesying anything but exhortation or comfort, they are not speaking from God.  

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy . . .  But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.
1 Corinthians 14:1,3 (NKJV)

The Word and the Spirit always agree.  The words that we speak influence us and they influence the people around us. The gift of prophecy deals especially with the effort, force, significance, and the power of words.

I say this with love in my heart for you.  Please do not lend your voice to prophesy words inspired of evil. Do not repeat what some news reporter is saying about the doom and gloom of politics, disease, or violence.

Know that your words have power.  When you talk to people this week, make it your aim to say what God says about them.  Edify, exhort, and comfort the people that God has put in your life.
