Dear Friend,

Do you realize that we can speak words that actually bless or curse people? In fact, our tongues can deliver either poison or medicine to the soul!

But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.

James 3:8,9 (NKJV)

A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.
Proverbs 17:22 (NKJV)

If we have a happy heart, our tongues will deliver happy words, words that go into our own souls and into the lives of others like a healing medicine. Is it hard to control the tongue? Yes! The apostle, James, says this:

For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word,
he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

James 3:2 (NKJV)

Consider those precious souls around us who do not know the love of God. Since the coronavirus spread in 2020, people shake hands less, hug less, and stand back from one another. Some people no longer feel safe, but trapped. Ask the Lord to give you words of greeting that will speak a blessing over the next person He puts in front of you. Oh, that we would learn to use our tongues to the glory of God!

We are living in the last days—difficult times. Our words can carry peace, safety, comfort, wisdom, and counsel or our words can carry anxiety, fear, and dread. This week, may our testimony be like David’s testimony at the end of his life. David wrote:

“The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue.”
2 Samuel 23:2 (NKJV)

May God’s Word be on our tongue today.

Praise the Lord!
