Dear Friend,

There are millions of Christians today who are not resisting the devil. The devil is very subtle and it doesn't matter if you are a preacher or not, he can trick us all.

In fact, I had to deal with a situation recently that really pushed me down. I understood what David meant when he said, “Oh, my God! Oh, my soul! Why are you so down? Why are you hurting so badly?"

Looking back, I realize now that I did not resist the devil for about two days. I couldn’t sleep and I couldn’t eat. My husband, David, prayed with me. Of course, our God is merciful and He enlightened the eyes of my heart and pointed out some of Satan’s tricks. It's kind of like a light bulb goes off sometimes, and I thought, "Oh, my goodness! Jo, you need to practice what you preach girl!”

And so, I went into my prayer closet. I began to practice what I preach to everybody else.

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 4:7 (NKJV)

I submitted my heart to God in prayer, I resisted the devil, and confessed God’s Word. Let me tell you, when I came out of that prayer closet, my soul wasn’t down anymore. It was up! Had the situation changed? No. The situation was still the same. But my soul wasn't the same. Faith and peace had entered my heart.

My prayer for you this week is that you will resist the devil’s temptations and speak God’s victorious Word over your life.
